Thread Magazine.Featured Artist & Contributor,
Summer & Fall issues. LAYOUT EDITORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY Thread launched in August 2011, with the goal of developing a dynamic bi-monthly arts & culture magazine in print, a publication independently created by some of the city’s most talented journalists, photographers, and designers. They produced 7 print issues with a circulation of 5,000, which were available for free at all the high-traffic areas of Burlington and surrounding cities. They focus on authentic features that matter to their mostly 20- and 30-something reader demographic, such as art, politics, music, food & drink, and Burlington/Vermont culture. Although it is now entirely an online venture, Thread Magazine was originally an in-print-only magazine which I collaborated on two separate issues on with the founder, Ben Sarle. I worked closely with Sarle on the magazine's Summer issue, in which he offered me a 6-spread feature entitled "Hey, Sweet Bike." In the same issue I also designed the layout for an article in which we searched for the best Creemee (for those of you who don't live in Vermont, that's VT-only slang for soft-serve ice cream), and assisted with the editing, typography, and layout of the cover.
In the following issue, The Photography Issue, I was featured among 5 other photographers with a series entitled "It Was Clearly Your Finest Moment," in which I laid out and published photos of people who would've probably been upset with me if they had known I had published such photos of them in a magazine. But oh well. |
